The publisher does not endorse any particular company, product or service. The Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) is not responsible for the content of any advertisement and reserves the right to accept or refuse any advertisement submitted for publication.

The publisher reserves the right to refuse any advertisement not prepared to the correct specifications or to rework the advertisement copy as needed with appropriate fees applied.

Editorial Submission Instructions

Article and art submissions are always considered and should be submitted on or before the 10th of the month two months prior to the publication month to:

All articles must be provided in editable digital format (e.g. Microsoft Word, or RTF) with an accompanying hard copy. All applicable fonts and images must be provided. Images must be at least 300 dpi resolution at 100% of the size. Video and Audio clips are encouraged for inclusion in digital issues, and may be submitted in any standard file format.

Press Specifications: The Florida Music Director is printed using offset lithography on 70lb coated enamel stock. All covers and some interior pages are printed using four-color process with the remaining pages printed in black ink.

Color: All color will be reproduced using four-color process. Advertisers may indicate a specific PMS color to be matched with four-color process.

Trim Size: 8.5 x 11 inches

Bleeds: Allow for 1/8 inch for any artwork that bleeds

Special Position/Premium Page: Guaranteed special placement requests are considered on a space-available basis for ads half-page or larger at an additional fee of $25 per insertion. Inside Front Cover, Inside Back Cover, Outside Back Cover are guaranteed with the price of the ad and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Inside guarantees must be page specific (e.g. facing President's page, facing table of contents, etc.) Due to design and layout considerations, placement guarantees cannot be made for "front 1/2 of magazine," "far forward," etc. We will make every attempt to honor such requests, but they cannot be guaranteed.

Acceptable Electronic Formats: Preferred ad format is either as composite High Resolution PDF, Tiff (Photoshop document) or EPS with all fonts outlined. Our production department is Mac-based and uses the following programs: Adobe PageMaker 6.5, Quark Express 4.0, Adobe Illustrator 9.0, and Adobe Photoshop 7. Ads must be in a format that can be read by one of these programs. All applicable fonts and images must be provided. Images must be at least 300dpi resolution at 100% of the size. Ad art should be uploaded to the online sponsorship management system at www.CFAEFL.org/Sponsors.

Unacceptable Electronic Formats: We cannot accept electronic ads in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Powerpoint, Corel Draw or Microsoft Publisher.

Acceptable Printer-Ready Artwork: Camera-ready veloxes will be accepted if printed at 1200 dpi or greater. Negatives should be composite film 150-line screen, right-reading emulsion side down, accompanied by a proof. All hard copy submissions will be transferred to digital media, and the advertiser will be billed the cost incurred for transfer.

Policies

Purchase Orders: Insertion orders submitted by educational or governmental institutions must be accompanied by a copy of the purchase order. Ads will not be printed in the Florida Music Director until the appropriate purchase order or payment is received.

Discounted Advertising Insertions: All advertisers receiving frequency discounts must adhere to the contracted advertising schedule, and submit a Florida Music Director Insertion Order Form showing expected ad frequency and size. Otherwise, advertising will be billed at the per insertion rate. Mixing ad sizes during publication year is acceptable. Clients will forfeit their discount if advertising is not paid within 60 days of billing date. In the event payment is not made as required and agreed to the advertiser and the advertising agency shall be responsible for any and all attorney's and/or collection agency fees incurred in the collection of the debt.

Artwork Submission Requirements: The Florida Music Director reserves the right to refuse any ad not prepared to the correct specifications OR to rework the ad as necessary to fit the reserved space at a rate of $100 per hour. To avoid any possible dissatisfaction, please prepare all ads to the exact dimensions specified following the guidelines in the "Acceptable Format" section of the Production Notes.

Advertisers are responsible for submission of advertising materials by deadlines noted on the Editorial Calendar. FMEA reserves the right to cancel any ad insertion when ad materials are not provided by the date specified (60 days prior to publication). Rates are based on submission of electronic standard industry media and are effective through May 2015.
